Hailing from the lush landscapes of New Zealand and now a prominent figure in the Australian country music scene since 2013, Megan Woods is a force to be reckoned with. With a voice that echoes the soul of the countryside and a passion that ignites every stage she graces, Megan is not just a musician but a storyteller weaving melodies of life, love, and liberation.
Bursting onto the scene in May 2022 with her debut single “Shirt On The Floor,” Megan swiftly garnered attention, clinching two prestigious awards at the Dotted Eight Music Awards later that year. The following chapter unfolded with “I Just Want To Be,” her second single released in June of 2023, where her music embraced a rock-infused note inspired by her experience with a Melissa Etheridge tribute show.
Drawing inspiration from iconic country figures like Dolly Parton, Shania Twain and The Chicks, along with rock icons such as Melissa Etheridge, Megan’s musical voyage is underscored by her commanding voice a magnetic force that holds audiences spellbound. The fusion of rock-tinged country melodies and poignant narratives renders her sound unforgettable.
Megan’s single “Shattering the Silence,” released on May 3rd, 2024, is a powerful anthem addressing issues of domestic violence, bullying, harassment, mental health, and the importance of standing up for what is right in the world. This deeply personal and socially relevant song showcases Megan’s commitment to using her music as a platform for positive change.
‘Date Night’ Megan’s latest single, released on July 18th 2025, is a fun playful song all about needing a date night, and perhaps a little night away from the kids and time to rekindle a flame with a loved one.
Recent accomplishments that have happened in the last 12months include having her first international sold out show , back in her home land of New Zealand. Opening for Kingswood, Max Jackson, Raechel Whitchurch, Robbie Mortimer, Andrew Swift and playing at the wonderful A Night In Nashville 2024 with her band.
These opportunities further solidify her standing as a rising star in the music industry.
Guided by her family’s support and her unwavering determination, Megan’s music is a testament to the power of dreams and hard work. She’s not only inspiring her own family but also paying homage to the aspirations of the young 8 year old girl who first picked up a guitar and fell in love with country music.
While Megan has now been in Australia for 12 years. It was only last year (2024) that Megan officially became an Australian Citizen, and even got to sing the national anthem at her own ceremony.
2025 has already started with a BANG !
Heading to Tamworth Country Music Festival in January not only did she make a bunch of new friends,
But Megan also managed to make the Top 10 Best of The Buskers.
A career highlight for sure.
Now it’s time to bring the music to the people, Megan and her little family are heading off on a big adventure for 2025 with the Woods Clan starting their lap around Australia.
She can’t wait to play to so many new faces.
